Chemical Offset
As a chemical supplier, the process of substituting chemicals is one that requires careful consideration and planning. Our customers may request that we substitute one chemical for another for a variety of reasons such as cost, availability, or environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance.
The first step in the process is to thoroughly evaluate the properties of the chemical that we are substituting and the chemical that we are substituting it with. We must ensure that the substitute chemical is suitable for the intended application and will not negatively impact the performance of the final product.
Once we have identified a suitable substitute, we work closely with our customers to develop a plan for implementing the substitution. This may involve changes to our manufacture’s process, adjustments to forecasts and scheduling, and updates to our documentation and labeling.
We also ensure that we follow all applicable regulations and standards. This may involve obtaining new permits or certifications, updating our safety data sheets, and identifying any regional tariffs or restrictions.
Throughout the entire process, we communicate openly and frequently with our customers to ensure that they are aware of the status of the substitution and any potential impacts it may have on their operations. Our goal is to provide our customers with a seamless transition to substitute chemicals while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
